The Black Seed is a testimony-driven film centered on the cultural power of Black theater and the funding inequities that shape which communities have access to the arts. Filmed in St. Louis, the project brings together leaders in the theater industry through interviews that frame Black theater as a space of healing, education, and collective memory, while underscoring why sustaining Black theater institutions is essential to community life.
I led on-set execution across the interviews, designing multiple interview environments to maintain a cohesive visual language. Captured supporting B-roll to expand the story beyond the frame and owned production audio end-to-end to deliver clean, broadcast-ready dialogue throughout. Recorded 4K footage using a post-production-optimized color profile and calibrated camera settings to preserve maximum flexibility in post and support a strong final grade.
