The Black Seed is a testimony-driven film centered on the cultural power of Black theater and the funding inequities that shape which communities have access to the arts. Filmed in St. Louis, the project convenes African American leaders in the theater industry through interviews that frame Black theater as a space of healing, education, and collective memory, and emphasize why sustaining Black theater institutions is essential to community life.
I led core on-set production execution across the interviews, designing multiple interview environments to maintain a cohesive visual language and capturing supporting B-roll to expand the story beyond the frame. I also owned production audio, delivering clean, broadcast-ready dialogue throughout. To protect quality through post-production, I recorded 4K footage using a post-production-optimized color profile and calibrated camera settings to support efficient editing and a strong final grade.
